Hand-knotted from the thick, lanolin-rich wool of rare Galway lowland sheep, Spiralis is part of Rhyme Studio’s Báinín Collection, a celebration of Ireland’s pure, undyed native fibres. The swirling form evokes the Wild Atlantic Way: tidal lines, carved stone spirals, and the ancient symbols found in Ireland’s earliest sacred sites.

The collection uses undyed Galway wool, with natural tonal variations that shift throughout the day. The dense, sculptural pile brings warmth, depth, and the unmistakable presence of authentic Irish craft into any space. A true heirloom work.

An elegant, luminous reinterpretation of the ancient Irish spiral motif. Spiralis in Golden Almond combines the warmth of pale wool tones with the movement of Ireland’s historic carved motifs. Hand-tufted in a blend of Irish wools, this artwork adds natural brightness while maintaining the grounding quality of heritage fibres. Ideal for intimate spaces, reading corners, or as a subtle sculptural statement.

Collection Story: Báinín

Báinín, Irish for undyed white yarn or little white one (pronounced Bawneen) celebrates bio-fiber wool from Ireland’s native, pure bred Irish sheep The Galway, processed and spun for Rhyme Studio by Donegal Yarns. Made from the original Aran Sweater yarn, the collection proudly advocates for the natural, untreated creamy white qualities of a material with genuine provenance. With authenticity and responsible craftsmanship as cornerstones of the Rhyme Studio brand, designs such as Crooked Roads, Real Irish Wool and Spiralis echo elements of this iconic symbol of Irish style, the Aran Sweater, hailing from a part of the world steeped in over 4000 years of history. Originally a sculptured knitted jumper for Aran Island fisherman made famous by John F. Kennedy’s family, the hand crafted tradition was itself inspired by the rich history of 7th Century Irish Insular Art, a theme of Rhyme Studio’s limited edition design collection. Traditionally knitting was a vital cottage craft in Ireland but became an endeavor of unique artistic expression on the Aran Islands.

“As resilient, undyed Galway Wool was the original choice of yarn for the Aran Sweater, naturally we want to celebrate this bio-fiber in its most sustainable form while calling attention to the sad truth that almost all woolen knitwear sold today in Ireland is not made from native Irish wool”
